Moose Jaw

Moose Jaw is a Canadian city in the province of Saskatchewan. The city is located on the Trans-Canada Highway, about 77 kilometers west of Regina. The inhabitants are referred to as Moose Javians.

History

At the point at which the Moose Jaw River and Thunder Creek crossing, in 1881 was chosen by the Canadian Pacific Railway to build a settlement. This time was important to the political events of the Canadian Confederation. Another advantage for a settlement on the site was the huge water resources, which were enormously important for the steam locomotives. The first settlements were recorded in 1882. The train contributed a significant contribution to the development of the city. The city is served by two major railway companies such as the Canadian Pacific Railway and the Canadian National Railway since then.

In the city the daily newspaper Moose Jaw Times - Herald, as well as a small town newspaper Moose Jaw Forum is displayed. In the town three radio stations have their studios. These include Radio800 AM, oldies ( 800 CHAB ), 100.7 FM - CILG - FM, country music ( Country 100) and 103.9 FM - CJAW - FM, adult contemporary (Mix 103). These are operated by Golden West Broadcasting.

Attractions

Moose Jaw has parks such as Crescent Park in the Downtown of the city or the Wakamow Park at Moose Jaw River. In the parks you can go cycling or hiking. There are also parks where you can rent canoes and camping. The Temple Gardens Mineral Spa, the Casino Moose Jaw attract tourists to the city.

The Moose Jaw Warriors, a hockey team, playing in the Western Hockey League. Their home arena is the Mosaic Place. The city has four high schools and 15 elementary schools.

In Moose Jaw is a military airfield of the Royal Canadian Air Force. There is, inter alia, the aerobatic Snowbirds home. In addition, various NATO air forces are trained at the CFB Moose Jaw pilots.
