Moosleerau

Moosleerau ( in the local dialect Moslerb, mos ˌ le ː rb) is a municipality in the district of Zofingen in the canton of Aargau. It lies in the middle Suhrental and borders the Canton of Lucerne.

Geography

The village is situated on the eastern edge of the completely flat valley floor on a slightly elevated moraine. This was during the Ice Age, during the retreat of the Reuss glacier. The Suhre forms the western boundary of the municipality. The river was straightened mid-1920s, drained the vast swamp in the plane. Immediately east of the village stands the bulls Gart ( 624 m above sea level. M. ) steeply. At the southern edge of the village is a branching a kilometer long valley. The area of the municipality is 381 hectares, of which 107 hectares are forested and built over 46 hectares. The highest point is located on 713 meters on the Ross back, the deepest at 474 meters at the Suhre.

Neighboring municipalities are Reitnau the southwest, Attelwil in the West, Relay Bach in the northwest, Kirchleerau in the north, the east, and the Canton Lucerne Schmiedrued community Kulmerau in the south.

History

Finds of bricks and remains of walls in neighboring Kirchleerau indicate that the area was already inhabited by the Romans. The first mention of Moslerovva place in the year 1243.
