Mooste Parish

Mooste (German Moisekatz ) is a rural municipality in the Estonian Põlva circle with an area of ​​185.2 km ². It has 1570 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2006).

Mooste was founded in 1820 after the abolition of serfdom as Moisekatzi - Mooste and received its present name in 1931. In addition to the main town Mooste for rural community includes the villages Jaanimõisa, Kaaru, Kadaja, Kanassaare, Kastmekoja, Kauksi, Laho, Rasina Savimäe, Suurmetsa, Säkna, Säässaare, Terepi and Viisli. Worth seeing is the imposing manor house of Mooste, which is used as a primary school for many decades.
