Morane-Saulnier

The company Morane- Saulnier was a French aircraft manufacturer.

The company was founded under the name Société Anonyme des Aéroplanes Morane -Saulnier on October 10, 1911 in Puteaux by brothers Leon and Robert Morane and their friend Raymond Saulnier.

Throughout the company's history about 140 different types of aircraft were developed in the company, which was the MS.406 with 1,081 copies and is the most numerous and most important fighter aircraft of the Armée de l'air before the capitulation of France in World War II.

The famous French fighter pilot Roland Garros was employed as a test pilot with Morane -Saulnier.

In 1963 the company was taken over by the company Potez and was now called Société d'exploitation établissements Morane -Saulnier. Definitively the name Morane- Saulnier disappeared in may 1965 by the nationalization of the French air carriers. Henceforth, the company operated under the company Socata.

The aircraft name " Morane " but is now used almost exclusively on German airfields for the series Morane -Saulnier MS880 Morane- Saulnier MS890 Rallye and Rallye, which are the most famous post-war aircraft of this company.
