Coping Morel Mushroom, Morchella gigas between wild garlic

The cap, bell - or half-free morel ( Morchella semi libera synonymous Morchella gigas ) is a Schlauchpilzart from the kind of morels ( Morchella ).

Features

The cap - Morel is 10 to 20 inches high, divided into hat and stick, hollow fruit body ( Komplexapothecien ). The hat part is compared to stalk small skullcap -shaped and fused only at the upper part of the stem, it is divided by more or less vertically extending longitudinal ribs and irregular, less educated transverse ribs. The hat surface is light to dark brown, the longitudinal ribs black during ripening of the fruit body. The stem is 4 to 8 centimeters long and 1 to 3 inches wide, it is hollow and dünnfleischig, fragile and at the base of slightly thickened. It is a little pitted, whitish at first, and is pale buff in age.

Ecology

The cap - Morel grows saprobiontisch in moist, humus-rich meadows, in gardens, parks, forests and streams. The fruiting bodies appear in Central Europe from April to May

Importance

The cap - Morel is edible. They, like all morels in Germany under protection and is to conserve as rarity.
