Morden (Manitoba)

Morden is a place in the Canadian province of Manitoba, about 80 km southwest of the provincial capital Winnipeg.

Morden is located just 25 km north of the border with the U.S. state of North Dakota in the heavily agricultural prairie landscape of the Pembina Valley. With the 10 km to the west located Winkler many municipal services are organized.

History

The town originated as a stop on the Canadian Pacific Railway, took up their steam locomotives at the crossing of the Mort Cheval Creek water. Then the congregation murders was established in the then 12 -year old and still much smaller province of Manitoba on January 1, 1882. The name goes back to Alvey Morden, who in 1874 as one of the first settlers settled in Ontario coming on today's city.
