Morea-Expedition

The Morea expedition (French Expédition de Morée ) was a French military operation 1828-1833. You took the time of the Greek revolution taking place and led to the Peloponnese, then called Morea. Lingering value of the expedition is in the results of the scholars, engineers and artists who accompanied the expedition, and the existing roads, but also archaeological sites documented.

Military Target was a weakening of the influence of the Ottoman Empire after the Battle of Messolonghi 1825. A fleet of French, British and Russians defeated the Battle of Navarino in 1827. 1828 was the expeditionary force in Koroni on land and remained there until 1833.

The military operation was under the command of Nicolas- Joseph Maison, who commanded 13,000 soldiers.
