Morgan County (Colorado)
The Morgan County is a county located in the state of Colorado of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is in Fort Morgan.
Geography
The County is located in northeastern Colorado. Its shape is approximately square. It is surrounded by the County Weld, Logan, Washington and Adams.
History
The Morgan County was released in 1889 from the Weld County. The name of the Morgan County comes from the administrative center of the county (Fort Morgan ). By County Interstate 76 runs from Denver to Nebraska. The South Platte River runs through the County.

According to the census of 2000, there were 27 171 people in the county. There were 9,539 households and 6,973 families. The population density was 8 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 79.65 percent White, 0.33 percent African American, 0.81 percent Native American, 0.17 percent Asian, 0.17 percent Pacific Islander residents of the 16.37 percent from other races, and groups; 2.48 percent were descended from two or more races. 31.18 percent of the total population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 9,539 households out of which 37.9 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 59.7 percent were married couples living together, 9.0 percent were single mothers. 26.9 percent were non-families. 23.0 percent of all households and 10.9 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.80 and the average family size was 3.29 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread from 30.4 percent population under 18 years, 8.5 percent between 18 and 24 years, 28.2 percent between 25 and 44 years, 19.8 percent between 45 and 64 years and 13.0 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 100.4 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.3 males.
The median income for a household was $ 34,568, and the median income for a family was $ 39,102. Males have a median income of $ 27,361, women $ 21,524. The per capita income was $ 15,492. 12.4 percent of the population and 8.5 percent of families are below the poverty line. This included 15.3 percent of the population under the age of 18 and 9.5 percent of the population aged 65 and over.
