Morgan County (Tennessee)
The County is located in the central northeastern Tennessee, is located in the north about 45 miles from Kentucky and has an area of 1353 square kilometers, of which 1 square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Scott County, Anderson County, Roane County, Cumberland County and Fentress County.

According to the census in 2000, lived in Morgan County 19,757 people in 6,990 households and 5,235 families. The population density was 15 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 96.72 percent White, 2.23 percent African American, 0.20 percent Native American, 0.12 percent Asian, 0.01 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander, and 0.14 percent from other races groups; 0.59 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.61 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 6,990 households out of which 33.5 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 60.7 percent were married couples living together, 10.3 percent were single mothers and 25.1 percent were non-families. 22.1 percent of all households and 9.3 percent lived in persons aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average household size was 3.01 people.
23.2 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 8.8 percent between 18 to 24, 31.9 percent between 25 and 44, 24.5 percent between 45 and 64 and 11.5 percent were older than 65, the average age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were statistically 114.3 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there 116.4 males.
The median income for a household was $ 27,712, and the median income for a family was $ 31,901. Males have a median income of $ 25,683, women $ 18,606. The per capita income was $ 12,925. 13.5 percent of families and 16.0 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
