Morgan County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Wartburg.

Geography

The County is located in the central northeastern Tennessee, is located in the north about 45 miles from Kentucky and has an area of ​​1353 square kilometers, of which 1 square kilometers of water surface. History

Morgan County was formed on October 15, 1817 from parts of Roane County. It was named for Daniel Morgan, an American pioneer, politician and officer in the American Revolutionary War.

According to the census in 2000, lived in Morgan County 19,757 people in 6,990 households and 5,235 families. The population density was 15 people per square kilometer.
