Morgan Stanley Smith Barney is a joint venture between Morgan Stanley and Citigroup and worked in asset management.

In January 2009, the Global Wealth Management Division of Morgan Stanley with Smith Barney, a subsidiary of Citigroup, was summarized. Smith Barney was founded by Charles Barney and Edward B. Smith in the 19th century in Philadelphia. The bank was in stages from Primerica and then Traveler's Corp.. Salomon Smith Barney was created in 1997 out of the merger of the brokerage firm Smith Barney with the investment bank Salomon Inc; in 2000, the investment banking business of Schroders was acquired until 2003, the European investment banking business went under the name of Schroder Salomon Smith Barney.
