Morgenleithe

The Morgenleithe is a mountain with twin peaks in the Saxon Erzgebirge 811 m above sea level.

Geography

The mountain is located on the territory of the City Loud - Bernbach to the municipal boundaries of Schwarzenberg and Bockau directly on the European long-distance hiking trail on the mountain and E3 Eisenach- Budapest.

Origin of the name

The name of the Morgenleithe derived, like other place names in the Ore Mountains, from the suffix- deduce for slope, which here towards the east or morning falls particularly steep.

Tourism

The Morgenleithe is a popular hiking destination with a 1922 built and 1955 increased observation tower and a 1933 -built mountain restaurant. The remote view is, however, severely limited by dense high forest today.
