Moriteru Ueshiba

Moriteru Ueshiba (Japanese植 芝 守 央, Ueshiba Moriteru; born April 2, 1951 in the prefecture of Tokyo) is a Japanese aikido master and current Doshu the Aikikai.

Moriteru Ueshiba is the second son of Kisshomaru Ueshiba and a grandson of the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba. He studied successfully at Meiji Gakuin University in economics. From the age of six he learned aikido with his grandfather.

After the death of his father Kisshomaru Ueshiba on 4 January 1999, he took over his place as Doshu ( master of the way ) and thus the guidance of the Aikikai. Before he took this position, he was President of the 'Council of Directors of the Aikikai Honbu dojo and head of the Aikikai.
