Moritz von Aberle

Moritz von Aberle ( born April 25, 1819 in Rottum; † November 3, 1875 in Tübingen) was a Catholic theologian.

Life

Born and raised in Rottum Aberle, now a little haven of Steinhausen an der Rottum. 1837 to 1841 he studied theology at the Eberhard -Karls- University Tübingen and was ordained a priest on August 29, 1842. In 1845 he became a professor at the upper secondary school Ehingen, 1848 Director of Theologenkonvikts Wilhelmstift in Tübingen and in 1850 professor of moral theology and New Testament exegesis at the University of Tübingen. From 1865 to 1866 he was rector of the university.

As a moral theologian, he said yes probabilism and represented as exegete the method of modern biblical criticism.

Honors

1866 Aberle was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown, which was connected with the personal title of nobility.
