Mortuus

Mortuus was a Swedish Black-/Death-Metal-Band.

History

Mortuus picked up the 7 " Silence Sang the Praise of Death, which was released by The Ajna Offensive 2005. The musicians solved the project after recording; However, when she wanted to express again through this medium, they reanimated Mortuus. This was followed by the also published by The Ajna Offensive 2007 album De contemplanda morte ( De reverencie laboribus ac adorationis ).

Music style

The single volume contains a description of Mortuus as "the primitive expression" ( which primitive expression '). A member of the band stated that Mortuus was really primitive in terms of music, not for lack of knowledge or technology, but because he liked them. The texts and the ideas expressed above are often very complex, but would channeled through a very primitive but effective medium. According to the band, there are numerous differences between the EP and the album, but the essence and atmosphere are the same. The band's style combines the " incomparably oppressive atmosphere of black metal, sounds sinister and deeply occult and nihilistic lyrical themes " usually with " ponderous pace, sustained chords and echoing growls ," reminiscent of death metal and doom metal.

Ideology

On the cover of the single an inverted pentagram can be seen; the musician saw the symbol as representative of their faith, in which it was devil worship. Later, however, one of the musicians stated that now one need no more isms; there had been no change of religion, if it were a different perspective compared to the highest deity. The band revere death and aspire to, to die in the god of death; there is no single symbol that could adequately represent their God. De contemplanda morte ( De reverencie laboribus ac adorationis ) is a concept album that deals with the ascent from the depths of Qlīpōt to the heart of death.

The musicians did not use pseudonyms because they wanted to see any names on their publications and had no interest in a high status in the scene. However, they printed photographs of yourself from it, according to his own statement, in order to avoid speculation about their identities, and because a "semi - anonymous " project probably less interesting for discussion would be as a completely anonymous.
