Moscow (song)

1979

Moscow is a German Schlager, composed by Ralph Siegel, texted by Bernd Meinunger, which was first presented in 1979 by the group Dschinghis Khan.

History

The song was a huge success in Germany ( No. 3 in the charts ), more so in Australia. Here paused the song five weeks at No. 1 since the Australian television used it as theme music for the video archive of the Summer Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980.

In Russia, the song was also very popular, although it was not then available for purchase. As Moscow presented in 2009 as host of the Euro Vision Song Contest, the song was recorded at the beginning.

Cover versions

There are several cover versions, such as the German black metal band Black Messiah or the Leningrad Cowboys. A Chinese version with other text was recorded by Da Zhangwei. Last Uschi Blum gave a performance in Berlin's Friedrichstadt-Palast.

Another cover version is in the spot of the furniture store Hoffner (Refrain " Hoffner, Hoffner, ..." ), also occurs in the Hape Kerkeling used.
