Moses ben Joseph di Trani
Moses ben Joseph di Trani ( the Elder) (* 1505 in Thessaloniki, † 1585 in Jerusalem, Hebrew משה מטראני ), called מבי"ט ( Mabit ) was a Talmud scholar of the 16th century.
His father fled three years before his birth from Apulia to Thessaloniki. As a child Moses was sent to Talmudic studies under his uncle Aaron after Hadrian Opel ( Edirne ). At age 16, he went to Safed and sat under Jacob Berab his studies. In 1525 he was rabbi there; In 1535 he went to Jerusalem.
