Moses Mielziner

Moses Mielziner ( born August 12, 1828 in Shubin, today Szubin, Poland, † February 18, 1903 in Cincinnati, USA ) was more moderate reform rabbi and professor at HUC.

From 1848 to 1852 he studied at the University of Berlin. His doctoral thesis The ratios of slaves among the Hebrews was published in 1859 in Copenhagen and was also translated into English. From 1857 to 1865 he was head of the religious school in Copenhagen and then emigrated to the United States where he obtained a position as rabbi of Anshe - hesed community in New York. He taught from 1879 to 1903 at the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati and was after the death of Isaac Mayer Wise from 1900 until his death president of that institution.
