Mosque Keizerstraat
The mosque and synagogue Keizerstraat stand in peaceful neighborhood in Paramaribo, Suriname.
Mosque
The mosque is the headquarters of the Lahore Ahmadiyya Movement and is also the headquarters of the owner, the Surinaamse Islamist Vereniging (SIV ).
The foundation stone for the first wooden mosque was laid in 1929. More than 60 years later, the current mosque was built.
Synagogue
Next door stands the synagogue " Neve Shalom " ( house of peace ). Having always had settled in and around Paramaribo next to the center of the Jewish community, the Jodensavanne more Jews, was also a need for a house of prayer. In 1716 this land was placed at the Keizerstraat 82 available by the government. The 1720 inaugurated wooden synagogue was replaced by the present, finished stone synagogue in 1842.
