Most Ancient European Towns Network
The Most Ancient European Towns Network (English ) is the working group of the oldest cities in Europe. It was founded in 1994.
Members
The Working Group consists of the following cities, whose representatives alternated annually in the chair:
- Argos (Greece )
- Beziers (France)
- Cádiz ( Spain)
- Colchester (United Kingdom )
- Cork ( Ireland)
- Évora (Portugal )
- Maastricht ( Netherlands)
- Roskilde (Denmark)
- Tongeren (Belgium )
- Worms ( Germany )
Founding meeting
The initiative for the formation of the working group came from the city of Argos. There, the first official meeting of the heads of the participating cities also took place from 22 to 26 June 1994, it only lacked the representative of Cádiz. In this case, after the signing of the Memorandum the objectives have been decided.
