Mota'ain

District

Mota'ain ( Motaain, Mota Ain, Mota'in ) is a village in East Timor. It is in the Suco Batugade, subdistrict of Balibo, Bobonaro district. From Mota'ain from it are heading east 2.5km from Batugade and 115 km from the state capital Dili. To the west is 9 km to Atapupu and 25 km to Atambua.

In the village is the most important, official border crossing from East Timor to Indonesian West Timor and a heliport.

On 30 August 2005, three years after the independence of East Timor, Foreign Ministers agreed between the two neighbors in Mota'ain the first official landmark. The border here is a small river that flows into the Savu Sea and the town its name. Mota is in the local language Tetum "river" and Mota'ain "lower river ".
