Motherland (anthem)

Motherland is the national anthem of Mauritius, it is sung only in English. The music was composed by Philippe Oh San (the former band leader of the Police Orchestra of Mauritius) and the text written by Jean Georges Prosper. Official figures, however, say that Philippe Gentil had written the music.

Glory to thee, Motherland, oh motherland of mine, Sweet is thy beauty, Sweet is thy fragrance, around thee we gather, as one people, as one nation, In peace, justice and liberty, Beloved country june God bless thee, for ever and ever.

German translation

Glory be to thee, Fatherland, oh my country, Sweet is thy beauty, Sweet is thy fragrance, With you we gather As a people, As a nation, In peace, justice and freedom, Beloved country may God bless thee, Forever and ever.
