Motława

The Motława ( German Mottlau ) is a river in northern Poland. It rises on the edge of the Pomeranian back. The length of the river is 64.7 km, the area of the catchment 1511.3 km ².

The Motława opens in Gdansk near the area, which is often called Polski Hak, in the Vistula. This area acquired Poland in 1920 by the Free City of Danzig. A branch of river flows in the district Gęsia Karczma into the Vistula.

In the 16th and 17th century a canal was built, connecting the Motława with the Port of Gdansk. He bears the name Nowa Motława.

In the Motława the river Radunia opens. The part of the Motława above the lake Jezioro Rokickie is called Szpęgawa.
