Moto Hagio

Moto Hagio (Japanese萩 尾 望 都, Hagio Moto, born May 12, 1949 in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan ) is a Japanese manga artist. It is regarded as one of the first women to have addressed topics such as homosexuality ( shōnen ai) and science fiction in their manga for girls ( shōjo ). For these activities, it is counted among other things beside Riyoko Ikeda and Keiko Takemiya to the group of 24er. The main characters of their comics are almost always boys.

Career

Hagio was already at a very young age artistic ability and decided at the high school when she Osamu Tezuka Manga Shinsengumi read to follow the career path of a manga artist. Her career began in 1969 with its first release, the short story Ruru to Mimi, who appeared in the magazine Nakayoshi Japanese girls. From this manga magazine but she turned away after a short time, because there they could not broach the issues that should make it later became famous.

For magazines such as COM and Garo she drew the early 1970s several short stories, including the first shōnen -ai manga, 11- gatsu no school. As of 1992, her Zankoku ga Shihai suru kami, an epic na appeared in 17 volumes. At Barbara Ikai she worked from 2002 and 2005. Awards
