Motorola International 3200

The Motorola International 3200 was one of the first GSM -enabled mobile phones, in which the entire necessary for telephony technology has been integrated in the handset. It was introduced internationally in 1992 by Motorola and sold the first mobile phone in the also launched in 1992 new GSM networks of " Telekom D1 " and "D2 private". It was therefore the first cell phone model in Germany and is now a collector's item. It cost in the Year 3000 vis DM 8,000 with contract (equivalent adjusted for inflation currently about 2282-6084 € ).

With dimensions of 334 × 43 × 67 mm, it had a weight of 520 grams. The battery had the colloquially known as the bone unit with a capacity of 700 mAh talk time of 110 minutes and one of the few class 4 GSM terminal ( transmit power 2W ) a maximum standby time of 24 hours. In practical use, however, it kept with the battery supplied by the factory by any working day, which is why larger batteries were very popular, even if the device was still so unwieldy.

The Motorola 3200, was partly built in 5 different Variantenn with distinctive key assignment, but with the same software. In addition to the normal Motorola 3200 mobile phone under the labels of Bosch, Blaupunkt, Pioneer, and Ford was sold.

You can still use the phone with a normal SIM card. Only the version 1.6 works due to a different SIM card voltage only with old SIM cards.

The device was suitable only for making phone calls; an SMS or MMS was not possible.

Direct successor to the Motorola International 3200 model was the model Motorola International 3300th It differed by a lower case depth, the ability to charge the battery directly through the mobile phone, and was able to receive SMS messages and cell broadcast. The Model 3300 had, in contrast to 3200 (ITU ) a final authorization to operate in all GSM networks (FTA ).

A planned Motorola International 3500 with a transmitter power of 5 watts was announced but never appeared on the market, probably because of the even then burgeoning debate about radiation exposure from mobile phone.
