Motretinid [trade name: Tasmaderm ® ( CH) ] is a second-generation retinoid ( monoaromatic retinoids ).
Area of application
Motretinid is applied as a pharmaceutical agent, and is applied topically as an active ingredient of creams and solutions for the treatment of acne and other hyperkeratotic skin diseases, are used. The drug is only approved in Switzerland.
Effect
Motretinid 0.1 % was found compared with tretinoin 0.05 % effective against inflammatory lesions, but not for Komedolyse. Overall, it is judged to be less effective. The formulation used has good skin compatibility.
Side effects
In the first weeks of therapy may temporarily cause irritation to skin and deterioration of skin condition may occur in very rare cases.
Interactions
Other topical skin preparations should only be used after consulting a doctor at the same time with Motretinid preparations. Combined use of several local anti-acne preparations may cause skin dryness and irritation.
Pregnancy and lactation
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus after systemic administration of Motretinid. There are no controlled human studies. Systemic absorption after topical application of the drug is estimated at a maximum of 1%. Since the safety of topical use during pregnancy has not been systematically investigated, Motretinid - containing preparations should not be administered during pregnancy and to have children desire. In addition, it is not known whether Motretinid is excreted in breast milk. From the application during lactation is not recommended.
