Moulézan

Moulézan is a commune with 597 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Gard in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, and is located north of Montmirat. Moulézan part of the municipal association Communauté de communes de Leins Gardonnenque. The name of the village is derived from the Latin name Molisius and the suffix - anum. The inhabitants are called Moulézanais and Moulézanaise.

Ancient finds

Some Gallo- Roman villa and places of worship, including burial grounds, were exposed in the vicinity of the place. Stone carvings, tiles ( tegulae ) and pottery ( doliae ) were found. The most beautiful piece is a carved limestone statue of the Gallic God Telesphoros, which was discovered in 1884 in Moulézan. It is now in the Archaeological Museum de Nîmes.
