Mount Balbi

The Balbi stratovolcano forms with 2715 meters the highest point on the island of Bougainville. To the north of the summit, there is a chain of five craters, one containing a lake. In the crater B on the western flank of the Balbi is Fumarolentätigkeit can be observed. The volcano has not erupted in historic times, there are only uncertain records of a possible eruption around the year 1825 ( ± 25 years) in front.
