Mount Clemens is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. The city is the county seat of administration ( County Seat) of Macomb County. In 2000 Mount Clemens had 17 312 inhabitants.

History of the City

Mount Clemens was first explored in 1795 by Christian Clemens, who settled here four years later. Clemens and his friend John Brooks, built a distillery and a paved country. 1818, the town was named after Clemens, 1821 was the site of a post office, the name of the first postmaster was John Stockton. The Constitutive Act for incorporation as a Village was filed in 1837, but until 1851 it came to the establishment. 1879, the Village to City has been charged. The founder of the village, Christian Clemens is buried at Clemens Park.

Previously, mineral baths a major industry in the city, once there were 11 bath houses in Mount Clemens. The first of these was built in 1873 and was built at the intersection of Jones and Water Street. It burned down in 1883 and was rebuilt the following year back and enlarged.
