The DAJTI (Albanian Mali i DAJTIT, also Dajt ) is a mountain in central Albania with a height of 1,613 meters. He is the local mountain of the Albanian capital, Tirana, in the east it rises. The area of the mountain is a national park DAJTI under protection.

History

It is believed that the name comes from the Greek goddess DAJTI Dictynna. Other mountains bear her name.

On DAJTI traces of prehistoric settlements have been found. Also remains of various fortifications from later times were discovered.

Geography

The mountain is part of the Kruja - chain, a long range of mountains, extending from Shkodra to south of Tirana and rises abruptly from the coastal plain. The chain is cut by deep river valleys. The DAJTI is bounded on the north by the river in the south of Tirana from ores. On its western flank the little Lana springs. In the north of DAJTI the small peak Maja e Tujanit looms ( 1,531 m), which makes the mountain a kind of dual leadership. Development

The mountain can be reached via a narrow mountain road that winds up to Fusha e DAJTIT and also serves to open up the national park. From this small level one has an excellent view of Tirana and the plane, which is why it is also called the balcony of Tirana.

Since June 2005 trippers can float up with a gondola from the eastern outskirts of Tirana. This first cable car of Albania for the transport of tourists was built by an Austrian company and, according to self-promotion, the longest of the Balkans.
