Mount Everts

Mount Everts is a mountain within the Yellowstone National Park, just east of the town of Mammoth Hot Springs in the U.S. state of Wyoming, near the Montana border. Its summit has a height of 2391 m. He is part of the Gallatin Range. Its waters empty into the Yellowstone River.

Geology

Mount Everts was 70-140 million years ago by sedimented rock, when the area was under an inland sea. The rock consists of sandstone and shale.

History

1870 found the Washburn - Langford - Doane Expedition place in the area now Yellowstone National Park. One of the participants, Truman Everts, got lost near the Yellowstone Lake and wandered 37 days alone through the area. He hit under great hardship to the north by where he was rescued completely exhausted. Henry Dana Washburn, the leader of the expedition, named Mount Everts by Truman Everts, was rescued at the Everts in the belief that the mountain was very close to the spot. In fact, this was a mistake - Everts was much further to the south, has been on the Blacktail Plateau, saved.
