Mount Friesland (Spanish Monte Barnard ) is the highest mountain of Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands. It is located about five kilometers northeast of False Bay in the Tangra Mountains.

The mountain was known to sealers since 1820. Erroneously was mid-19th century, the name Barnard Peak, the James Weddell was used for only 370 meter high Needle Peak, transferred to him. Since 1959 ( UK ) or 1960 ( USA) he wears in the English language back to the original name, while Chile and Argentina held on to the name Monte Barnard.

The first ascent was the Catalan mountaineers Francesc Sàbat and Jorge Enrique on 30 December 1991.
