Mount Hayes is a 4216 m high volcano in the Alaska Range in Alaska. It is located about 160 km east of Mount McKinley and adjacent to the Mount Deborah. With 3501 m, it has the fourth largest Vertical separation of the mountains of Alaska.

The Susitna Glacier and West Fork, headwaters of the Susitna River lie to the south and southwest of the Mount Hayes.

It was named Mount Hayes in 1898 by WJ Peters and AH Brooks from the United States Geological Survey by Charles Willard Hayes ( 1858-1916 ), a geologist of the USGS.

The first ascent took place on August 1, 1941 by a team led by Bradford Washburn held on the north ridge.

Known eruptions

Only a few eruptions of remote stratovolcano are known. In the period before 3,800 - 3,500 years he has had three major explosive eruptions that produced a total of 6 layers, each about 2.4 km ³ of tephra.
