Mount Lopez

Mount Lopez is a summit of the Walker Mountains on the Thurston Island off the northwest coast of the Antarctic mainland. It is located about 8 kilometers east of Landfall Peak.

The mountain was first detected on aerial photographs, which were taken as part of Operation High Jump in the years 1946-47.

The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the mountain in 1960 by Ensign Maxwell A. Lopez, who died during Operation High Jump at December 30, 1946 in the crash of the U.S. flying boat George 1 on the Thurston Island.
