Mount Pleasant is a small town in upstate New York, which has since 1788 the city status ( " town" ).

Geography

Mount Pleasant is located in the southern part of Westchester County, and so north of New York City to their catchment area (New York Metro Area ) it belongs to. Mount Pleasant is located at Rye Lake ( Kensico Reservoir ).

Mount Pleasant consists of four small towns - Hawthorne, Pocantico Hills, Thornwood and Valhalla - and two self-governing villages, Sleepy Hollow (which is the scenario for Washington Irving's book gave ) and Pleasantville,

At the 2000 census, the population was 43,221, of which 21,933 men ( 49.3 %) and 21,988 women ( 50.7 %). In July 2005, the population was estimated at 44 176 - which represents an increase of 2.2%. In 2000, the city had 13,737 households, and 10,522 families.
