Mount Pleasant is a city in Charleston County in the U.S. state of South Carolina, north of Charleston, from which it is separated by the Cooper River. 2010 Mount Pleasant had 67 843 inhabitants.

Noteworthy

The Pop, R & B and dance singer Melanie Thornton grew up in Mount Pleasant. She died on the return flight from a concert in Leipzig, in the crash of Crossair flight 3597 on 24 November 2001 in Switzerland. She was buried in Mount Pleasant Memorial Garden.
