Mount Pleasant is the capital and the county seat ( county seat ) of Titus County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city lies at the intersection of Interstate 30 with U.S. Highway 271 and Highway 49 in northeast Texas, 100 southwest of Texarkana, is in the north about 70 miles from Oklahoma, to the east about 120 km west of Arkansas and has a total of 33.0 km ², of which 0.5 km ² water surface.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 13,935 people in 4,558 households and 3,208 families. The population density was 429.4 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 56.70 % White, 16.00 % African American, 0.55 % Native American, 0.84 % Asian, 0.01 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 23.57 % from other ethnic groups. Approximately 2.33% were of mixed descent, and 40.65 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
