Mount Simmons

BWf1

The Mount Simmons is a 1,590 meter high mountain at the northern end of the Independence Hills in the West Antarctic Ellsworthgebirge.

The mountain was named in 1966 by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names after the Navy Aircraft technician Richard S. Simmons, on the Ross Ice Shelf, died in a plane crash with the Douglas LC - 47J "Spirit of McMurdo " on 2 February 1966.
