Mount Somma
The Monte Somma is an old volcano in Italy with a height of 1,132 m. After the collapse of the near-surface magma chambers 79 AD a large caldera was created with a diameter of about 4 km, in which a new volcanic cone formed, the still active and 1,281 m high Mount Vesuvius (Italian: Monte Vesuvio ).
