Mount Superbus

BWf1

The Mount Superbus in the Australian Main Range Mountains is the highest mountain in South East Queensland. It is 1375 m high and is located in the Main Range National Park near Brisbane.

In Queensland it is after Mount Bartle Frere ( 1622 meters) and Mount Bellenden Ker ( 1593 m), the third highest mountain. In the valley on the west side of the mountain the Condamine River flows. The tip is the remnant of a shield volcano that was active before 22 million years ago.

An attraction for hikers is the wreckage of an aircraft from the Avro Lincoln, which crashed on April 9, 1955 to the south side of the mountain. All six inmates have been killed.
