On an island of the crater lake there is a monastery, supposedly founded by Saint Gebre Manfus. This monastery was destroyed and a church at the foot of the mountain of Imam Ahmad Gragn ( the " left-handed "), looted in 1531. There are many holy places in and around the mountain, mostly artificial rock arrangements. Semi-annually directed the monastery from a party.
