Mountain (Band)

The hard rock band Mountain was established following the publication of the eponymous LP from Leslie West 1969 in New York.

Band History

In addition to Leslie West ( born 1945 ), Felix Pappalardi (* 1939, † 1983), Steve Knight and Corky Laing involved in a project that saw itself as the successor of the legendary group Cream. Pappalardi was previously producer of the last three albums of " Cream" before disbanded this group. The band performed at the 1969 Woodstock Festival. The follow-up group of Mountain, West, Bruce & Laing, dismissed in 1972 with bassist Jack Bruce Cream a former musician on.

On April 17, 1983 Pappalardi was shot by his wife Gail Collins after an argument.

"Mountain " was repeatedly re-formed, for example, in 1985, with bassist Mark Clarke (formerly Colosseum). The band changed in composition during the 80s and 90s several times and continues today with the current occupation since 2008 Leslie West (guitar, vocals), Corky Laing (drums) and Rev Jones ( bass). The repertoire consists of Mountain today both from the classics of the late 1960s and early 70s, as well as new numbers that sound harder and louder than ever.

Style

Many pieces of the band were on the one hand characterized by extreme volume and heavily distorted guitar solos by West, but on the other hand, they also played Lyrical Ballads, which were worn by the soft voice Pappalardis. Gail Collins contributed a series of texts as well as individual cover designs.
