The Mountain River ( English for " mountain river ") is a left tributary of the Mackenzie River in Canada's Northwest Territories.

The Mountain River rises west of the backbone peak in the Mackenzie Mountains. It flows through the backbone and Canyon Ranges to the east. Here, the river passes five gorges before it reaches the lowlands of the Mackenzie River and finally flows 50 km south of Fort Good Hope in these. The river has a length of 370 km. The catchment area covers 13,500 km ².

The Mountain River is a popular whitewater waters for canoeists. The river is navigable with a two-week canoe trip. The difficulty of the rapids is II -III.
