Mourad Medelci

Mourad Medelci (Arabic: مراد مدلسي, DMG Murad Madalsī; born April 30, 1943 in Tlemcen ) is an Algerian politician and Foreign Minister of Algeria since June 2007.

Life

Medelci studied economics at the University of Algiers and finished his studies with a Bachelor's in 1966 and master in 1968. Between 1970 and 1980 he worked in the private sector before being appointed in 1980 as Secretary General of the Ministry of Commerce.

From 1988 to 1989 Medelci was Minister of Trade and 1990-1991 Deputy Minister for the household. He was again Minister of Trade from 1999 to 2001, then Minister of Finance 2001 to 2002. From 2002 to May 2005, he was adviser to the president, Abd al- Aziz Bouteflika. In May 2005 he was appointed Minister of Finance; he retained this position until 2007 he became Foreign Minister on 4 June.

Mourad Medelci is married and has five children.
