Movement for Democracy (Slovakia)

The Movement for Democracy ( Slo. hnutie za demokraciu, HZD ) is a Slovak party.

The party was founded in 2002 as a spin-off of the HZDS. Its first chairman was Ivan Gašparovič, the incumbent president of Slovakia. After the Party Congress on February 18, 2006, the leadership is passed to Jozef grapa. In the 2006 elections the HZD got only 0.6 % of the votes and thus remained outside parliament. At the parliamentary elections in Slovakia in 2010 they did not appear to, but recommended the choice of left Smer - SD.

The HZD was a member of the conservative- euro skeptical European party Alliance for a Europe of Nations.
