Movement for Socialism (Venezuela)

The Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS; más in Spanish means "more" ) is a social democratic party in Venezuela. It was formed in 1971 from a split from the Communist Party of Venezuela. She had to be the goal third largest behind the two major established parties Acción Democrática and COPEI force, but often got only less than 5 percent of the vote.

Despite the support for Hugo Chávez in the 1998 elections, where the MAS reached 9 percent of the vote, the MAS was involved in 2002 in the coup against Chávez. For the 2006 elections, supported the MAS Manuel Rosales, the opposition candidate, and reached 0.61 percent of the vote.
