Moville

Moville ( Irish: Bun an Phobail ) is a town in County Donegal in the far north of the Republic of Ireland with 1427 inhabitants ( 2006). Moville is located on the northern shore of Lough Foyle on the Inishowen Peninsula, about 30 km northeast of the city of Derry, Northern Ireland. Although Moville has a pier for fishing boats, this is hardly used, since only a few kilometers away in Greencastle, a commercial fishing port has emerged.

In the second half of the 19th century Moville was a significant port for emigrants, especially to Canada or the United States. Steam ships of the Anchor Line, and other compounds (eg from Glasgow to New York City ) put on in Moville.

Since the early 19th century every year takes place in August on a boat regatta, which attracts visitors and participants from many countries.
