Moxa

Moxa is a municipality in the administrative community Ranis - goats back in the Thuringian Saale- Orla-Kreis.

Location

Moxa is located in the South East Thuringian Slate Mountains. The offshore to the west hills and hills for Saale dam are forested. To the south lies the city of goats back and north Pössneck. History

For the first time in a document is assigned Moxa in 1295th During the Thirty Years' War, the village was completely destroyed by fire. The location of the water tower was converted in 1884 into a pond. The name moxa is Sorbian origin and changed over the years from Mugczow or Moxzow to today's spelling Moxa.

Education

At the edge of the village there is the Geodynamic Observatory Moxa, Friedrich-Schiller - University Jena and the Center for the Engineering Analysis of earthquake damage at the Bauhaus University Weimar. Here records are kept and evaluated on earthquakes around the world.
