Moxidectin is a parasiticide. Chemically, it is a macrocyclic lactone of the milbemycin family. The agent is a chemical modification of the fermentation product nemadectin radiation fungus Streptomyces cyaneogriseus. He is a lipophilic substance which is easily dissolved in organic solvents but poorly soluble in water. The drug is used in animal medicine as a remedy for round worms and mites use. Antiparasitic effect is mediated by an increase in the membrane permeability of the nerve cells of the nematode or the arthropod nerve and muscle cells of the chloride ions.
