Moya Brennan

Máire Philomena Ní Bhraonáin ( Irish pronunciation: [ m ˠ a ː r ʲ ə n ʲ i ː vɾ ˠ i ː n ˠ a ː n], called in English Máire or Moya Brennan; * August 4, 1952 in Gweedore, Ireland) is an Irish singer, harp player and songwriter.

Life

Moya Brennan is the eldest of nine children of Mr and Mrs Máire born Dhúgáin, a music teacher and Leo Brennan, a professional musician. She grew up in the North West of Ireland County Donegal, in the Irish language is still spoken widely. Brennan studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin harp, piano and vocals, and taught music at Holy Cross College in Falcarragh

Brennan is a member of the Irish band Clannad, the occupation fully recruited from family members and their occupation times belonged to her sister Enya. After many years of musical involvement in Clannad, she published in 1992 by Atlantic Records released her first solo album under the title Máire. In 2000 they released their autobiography The Other Side of The Rainbow, first in English, then under the title My Irish life in German. In 2003 she changed name to Moya Brennan, as it often led to misunderstandings in the debate.
