MPEG LA

The MPEG Licensing Administration ( short MPEG LA, also called " MPEG LA, LLC" ) is an U.S. company that patent pools in the fields of multimedia, consumer electronics and wireless managed. These pools include, inter alia, technologies such as FireWire / IEEE 1394, MPEG -2, MPEG -4, VC-1 and H.264. A patent pool for LTE is in the works.

Rights holders are, inter alia, Apple, France Telecom, Fraunhofer Society for the Promotion of Applied Research, Mitsubishi Electric, Scientific-Atlanta, Sony, U.S. Philips, Victor Company of Japan and Microsoft. MPEG LA is headquartered in Denver, Colorado (United States) and other seats in Washington DC, London, Tokyo and Shanghai.
